LIFE
- Greg graduated from Benson High School and Oregon State University.
- His childhood passion was flying, and all of his birthday cakes were airplanes, so nobody was surprised when he joined the Air Force.
- Greg joined the Air National Guard in 2000.
- Friends at Mountain Home Air Force Base nicknamed him “Linus” because of his affection for the “Peanuts” cartoons.
- After 20 years, he was hoping to retire soon and move close to his dad in Idaho.
- Greg liked to camp, ski, read military history and spend as much time as possible with his two sons.
- Major Stone was survived by Rick Stone (father), Berry Lenzi(mother), Josh Stone (son) and Alex Stone (son).
KIA
- Air Force Major Greg Stone was assigned to the 124th Air Support Operations Squadron, Idaho Air National Guard.
- Stone was killed by one of his own Comrades in Arms at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait in a March 22 attack.
- SgtHasan Akbar threw grenades into the tent where Stone was sleeping.
- Major Stone suffered 83 shrapnel wounds.
- Hasan Akbar was found guilty of two counts of premeditated murder and three counts of attempted murder in a grenade and rifle attack.
- The military jury sentenced him to death.
