LIFE
- Prior to becoming an Army helicopter pilot, Dennis served in the Air Force for eight years as a Ranger TACP and a Pararescueman.
- Dennis was an exceptional pilot—Pilot in Command qualified, a graduate of the instructor course, and selected for the elite TF160 upon returning from this deployment.
KIA
- Chief Warrant Officer Dennis Hay was killed on August 29th, 2005 when his OH-58D Kiowa helicopter came under small arms attack near Tal Afar, Iraq.
- He was shot by small arms fire and the co-pilot was also wounded.
- Despite his injury Dennis was able to help the co-pilot land the aircraft.
- The co-pilot survived his wounds.
- Dennis was survived by Rebecca (Wife), Jacob (Son), Abigail (Daughter), Barry (father), Patty (mother), Barry Jr (Brother) and Bridgette (Sister).
