- A1C Raymond “Ray” Losanowas a Tactical Air Control Party Airman with the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division.
- He was deployed to Afghanistan, March 2003.
- When multiple insurgents attacked his position, he returned fire and called in for close air support.
- Though he and another soldier were mortally wounded, A1C Losano helped prevent his unit from being overrun.
- He advanced instead of taking cover because he understood he needed to be up front, watching the enemy directly, in order to accurately guide the air strike.
- Ray sacrificed ever seeing his unborn child, his second daughter, or seeing his wife and eldest daughter, to serve with integrity, selflessness, and excellence.
- A1C Losano was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star with Valor and the Purple Heart Medal.
- Ray was survived by Sarah (wife), Alorah(daughter), Lilly (daughter), Robert Sr. (father), Oralia(Mother), Robert Jr. (Brother) and Melinda (Sister).
